On October 23rd, 2019, Kais Saied was sworn in as the second directly elected Tunisian president after the revolution. During his first period in office, he gained a great consensus from a number of political parties and maintained high popularity.
However, his performance and his statements in the recent period sparked widespread controversy adding to his declining approval ratings. To this day, however, Kais Saied still maintains the lead in voting intention polls.
