#DDX is Munathara’s special end-of-year event and flagship program. Harnessing the powerful nexus between artistic expression and social change, it provides a platform for youth, artists, singers, dancers, and performers of all kinds to come together and share their visions for progress in the region.

#DDX is Munathara’s special end-of-year event and flagship program. With its first edition starting in 2014, #DDX, both in format and style, harnesses the powerful nexus between artistic expression and social and political change. It provides a platform for youth writers, artists, activists and performers of all kinds to come together and share their visions for progress in the MENA region.

Because of its artistic dimension, #DDX provides Munathara with a diversified show that is appealing to a wide range of audiences ultimately fostering an inclusive public sphere in the region.

#DDX has a unique format based on a hashtag prompt designed to stimulate new ideas from among its youth participants. Previous #DDX editions have used hashtags including #ThereWontBeChangeUnless, #AndThisISayToThoseInPower, and #OthersHaveTheRightTo.

Once the hashtag is announced, Munathara activates its regional network to invite online contributions completing the chosen prompt, allowing for a broad diversity of imaginative visions for a better world. Participants are free to choose any form of expression to present their video. In the past this has included poetry, speeches, rap, song, theater, stand-up comedy, and interpretive dance.

A dedicated #DDX "Musabaqa" (Competition) is used to gather videos from participants. After a voting process, a total of 12 finalists from around the Arabic speaking world will be chosen from the competition to advance to the live event.
